In Memory of Corporal Jason N. Marchand
By Charles "Bud" McClung, Jason's Cousin
As I sit up here in Heaven
And look down at those below
I ask you not to shed a tear
For it was my time to go.
As a soldier I will never regret
The life I gave for you
On hot and dusty battlefield
To this country I stood true.
If I had to do it over again
I would not run and hide.
My band of brothers needed me
And I was right there by their side.
To the family that I left behind
I can’t take away your pain
Just know your soldier did his best
And did not die in vain.
God needed yet another angel
You know he only takes the best
He chose me to come home to hime
To take my final rest.
So, wipe those tears from you eyes
I’m still with you, can’t you see?
When the wind is howling like the wolf
You’ll know that it is me.
